Mark Karver is interested in the molecular design and chemical synthesis of custom modified peptides for use in regenerative medicine, as therapeutics, and beyond. He has active collaborations with the Stupp and Sharma laboratories at SQI, as well as the laboratory run by Melina Kibbe and Nick Tsihlis at the University of Virginia. In these projects, Karver assists in designing peptide-based therapies for a number of applications including the prevention of non-compressible torso hemorrhage and restenosis, as well as the treatment of atherosclerosis, smoke-induced acute lung injury, spinal cord injury, and inflammatory bowel diseases.
