Advancing medicine with nanocarriers

SQI member Evan Scott was profiled in the Spring 2022 issue of Northwestern Engineering Magazine. The article describes Scott’s efforts to use nanocarriers and immunology to combat a range of diseases, including cancer, infectious disease, glaucoma and type 1 diabetes.
“We look at the biology first and ask, ‘What is the problem and how do we engineer a nanoparticle to address that?’” said Scott, Kay Davis Professor and Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Microbiology-Immunology. “Then we try to understand how the immune system responds to that particle.”
