J-1500 CD Spectrometer

Description and Applications

The JASCO J-1500 Circular Dichroism (CD) Spectrometer performs measurements on the differential absorption spectra between left- and right-hand circularly polarized light in the range of 163-950 nm. CD spectra are commonly used as markers for conformational character in chiral molecules, including proteins and DNAs.

This instrument is equipped with a six-position sample holder with thermoelectric temperature control in the range of -30º C to 130º C (MPTC-511). The sample holder accepts 10 mm, 1 mm and sandwich-style thin quartz cuvettes with solutions. Output channels include CD, LD, absorbance and HT. This instrument was donated by the Department of Microbiology-Immunology, Feinberg School of Medicine.

Acknowledging ANTEC

Please acknowledge the use of ANTEC equipment when data obtained in our core is published, used for proposal or grant submissions, or included in your presentations. Acknowledgement helps demonstrate ANTEC’s value to the Northwestern University Research community and contributes to our efforts to secure funding for new instruments and services. See sample text.
